Okatmos® star 120
Powerful wet-bed adhesive
- Fast initial grab
- Easy to spread
- Antimicrobial properties
- Very low emissions
- Very high adhesion strength
Solvent-free, very low emission wet-bed dispersion adhesive for installation of LVT coverings in plank and tile format, tension-free homogeneous/heterogeneous PVC/VCT floor coverings and quartz vinyl floor tiles on absorbent substrates. For advanced Indoor-Air-Quality. Prevents smell and odors originating in microbial interactions between the floor covering and the application surface.
The substrate must be inspected and ready for installation in accordance with the respective regulations of the individual countries and the stat of the art as well as the current state of technology, and be ready for installation. Substrates must be pre-treated in accordance with the current BEB datasheet (Evaluation and Preparation of Substrates) and TKB Datasheet 8. Depending on the type of substrate and floor covering as well as the subsequent load conditions, prepare substrate for laying using suitable Kiesel primers/pre-coats and self-levelling compounds. With non-absorbent substrates, apply a Kiesel levelling or patching compound to a minimum thickness of 2 mm. Technical datasheets of other Kiesel products used must also be complied with. A system structure must be ensured.
Unheated concrete moisture vapor emission rate must not exceed 80% RH (ASTM F2170 or 5 lbs./1,000 sq. ft./24 hours (ASTM F1869). pH must not exceed 9.0. Heated concrete (radiant water heating) moisture vapor emission rate must not exceed 75% or a maximum of 3 lb./1000 sq.-ft per 24 hr.
Materials and area temperature must be 15°C - 25°C/59F°-77F°. with a maximum RH of 65% for 48 hours before and during installation and 72 hours afterward. Large temperature or humidity increases or decreases can affect the flooring and performance of the installation.
Stir Okatmos® star 120 well before use. Then apply the adhesive to the substrate using a suitable trowel. After an waiting time of approx. 5 minutes, lay the covering ensuring that no air becomes entrapped, and rub thoroughly. Ensure that the rear side of the floor covering is sufficiently contacted with adhesive. Floor coverings must lie as flat and tension-free as possible prior to installation. Avoid buckling in joint areas and elements that project too far upwards. After laying, always rub or roll over surface a final time. Wait a minimum of 24 hours before performing joint seals or welding flooring joints. Always observe the laying instructions of the flooring manufacturer.

At 68 °F (+20 °C) with 65 % relative humidity. Values are correspondingly shorter at higher temperatures and lower air humidity and longer at lower temperatures and higher air humidity.
The floor covering must be sufficiently free of tension and acclimatized before laying and must be adapted to the ambient room conditions prevailing in its subsequent use. Observe the relevant advice and information given by the manufacturer of the flooring.
Areas of flooring subject to strong roll tension raised edges or warps, or creases formed from folding or squashing must be weighed down until the adhesive has bonded.
If exposed to strong temperatures, e.g. sunlight in a conservatory or on window fronts, if subjected to heavy mechanical stress from floor trucks or forklifts etc., or if exposed to moisture from above, the use of Okamul PU would be preferable or seek application-technical advice.
When laying floor covering, the generally acknowledged rules of the trade and technology must be observed, as must the respective current standards and datasheets.
